( james ) several vacant million dollar homes in the south bay are vandalized over the weekend and the vandals have not been caught. this all happened a the homes located on rosemare court in san jose. a witness called and reported the homes being broken into around 3:00 sunday morning. the witness says they noticed three cars that were filled with people, pulling up to the homes. a woman who did not want her face to be shown is one of the many people who live in the neighborhood concerned about the crime. ( james )

police have no descrption of the vandals. the empty homes are for sale and worth more than a million dollars. ( mark ) a man is killed in a busy east bay strip mall parking lot. and his killer remains on the loose this morning. the victim was found shot in the head inside this gray b-m-w in newark on saturday. people in the area say they saw the lifeless body slumped over the steering wheel. he engine was still running and the wipers were on. surveillance video shows three men get into the victim's car, then leave the area a short time later. witnesses say this has their community of edge. ( mark ) police say this killing does not appear to be random. it is newark's first homicide of the year.

(james) the c-h-p is investigating a drive-by shooting on highway four in antioch. this happened around 3:30 yesterday afternoon near the lone tree way off ramp. police say two panhandlers were fired at. a woman was hit in the leg... she was treated at a hospital and released. officials believe this may have been gang related. since the start of 20-15, 111 shootings have occured on bay area freeways. c-h-p says 17 people have been arrested and charged in those incidents. (james) within the past hour, neil gorsuch has been sworn-in as the next justice of the u-s supreme court. chief justice roberts administed the constitutional oath in a private ceremony in the last hour... it's the first of two oaths he'll take today. justice anthony kennedy will administer the judicial oath at a public ceremony in the white house rose garden in about an hour.

gorsuch clerked for justice kennedy in the 90s. this will be the first time a former clerk will take the bench with his former boss. gorsuch was confirmed on friday and replaces the late antonin scalia. (mark) the death toll in the egypt church bombings continues to rise this morning. 49 people are now confirmed dead as the attacks targeted the country's christian minority on palm sunday. andrew spencer as the latest. new york police offered extra security, increasing patrols outside churches on sunday... ...as the attack in egypt weighed on the minds many christians, having happened a week before easter sunday. malak shafik / virgin mary and st. demiana church: "they tried to take that joy from us. this is not the first time it happened on a holiday."at a coptic church in white plains, new york, they understand the pain all too well.malak shafik / virgin mary and st. demiana church: "it is very sad for our church members."bombings

in two egyptian cities targeted the county's coptic christian minority on sunday. the attacks left dozens of people dead and more than 100 injured, according to the country's state-run media. coptic churches have been the target of attacks in the past. and isis -- in claiming responsibility sunday -- threatened more attacks in the future.egyptian president abdel fattah el-sisi declared three days of national mourning and a three-month state of emergency. he issued a statement saying, in part, "the attack will not undermine the resolve and true will of the egyptian people to counter the forces of evil."the bombings came days after sisi's visit to washington, where he and president donald trump spoke about terrorism.a senior administration official says trump called sisi from air force one to offer his condolences.trump used his twitter account to condemn the attacks, adding that he had great confidence that his egyptian counterpart would handle the situation.i'm andrew spencer, reporting (mark) russia's foreign minister is reportedly calling for an investigation into u-s missile strikes in syria.

sergey lavrov made the call during a phone conversation with secretary of state rex tillerson on saturday. lavrov also dismissed a u-s assertion that syria used chemical weapons earlier this week. tillerson and lavrov are set to meet in moscow this week. meantine president trump's national security adviser is calling on russia to re-evaluate its support for syrian president bashar assad. this would leave open the possibility of additional u.s. military action against syria. ( james ) the search continues this morning for a young kayaker who was last seen in sausalito. 26-year-old ashley wells went missing after kayaking to her house boat in the middle of the night. it happened on march 30th along the sausalito waterfront. investigators say wells left one house boat on an orange kayak... and she was headed to another house boat where she has been staying. her friends are hoping someone has seen her.

talking to them and getting them to spread the word. it's strange she's adventurous but responsible and she's also able to look after herself.">( james ) police say they do not suspect foul play. ( james ) police have found the suspect who sent ransom messages to the family of a missing yuba city college student. officers determined that the suspect was not involved in the disapearance of alycia yeoman. the 20-year-old went missing in yuba city, north of sacramento more than a week ago. alycia's truck was found near a levee the night she went missing. investigators later found her cell phone and one set of footprints leading away from her truck. yeoman's mother says she received texts with demands from alycia's kidnappers...which turned out to be fake. police are offering a five-thousand dollar reward for information leading to her recovery. reviewing the handling of thousands of terrorism-related tips and leads. they say they want to make sure the leads were properly investigated and no red flags were missed. the review follows attacks by people who were once on the f-b-i's radar. that includes the orlando night club shooter, the man responsible for bombings on the streets of new york city, and the fort lauderdale airport shooter. in each of these three cases, the suspects were on the f-b-i's radar at one time... but not for months and sometimes years before the attacks. the f-b-i says the review is an acknowledgem ent of their challenge in predicting which of the thousands of tips received every year might one day become a viable threat. (mark) new information is coming to light about the man who carried out an attack in stockholm. he was ordered to leave sweden in december because his request for a resdence permit was rejected. swedes are now questioning their country's immigration policies. all this after finding out that an asylum-seeker from uzbekistan was behind the terrorist attack. four people were killed in the attack on friday. this is stockholm's deadliest terrorist attack in

(mark) happening now. police are looking for a man who stole a necklace worth several thousands of dollars from a napa jewelry store. this is the man police are looking for. they say this happened back on april 1st but are just now releasing his picture. police say he walked into the store, tried on a necklace and then ran out with it. (james) a california family has died after a small plane they were in crashes in oregon. it happened north of eugene. witnesses described seeing the plane flying at a low altitude when

it suddenly turned and went down into a field. the victims are a california couple, their 17-year-old son and a 67-year-old pilot. the n-t-s-b and f-a-a are investigating the crash. (james) an alaska airlines flight is diverted because of a possible fire in the cargo area. it happened yesterday morning on the flight from sacramento in san diego. the f-a-a says a cargo fire warning light caused the pilot to land the plane at the modesto city airport. when firefighters checked the plane, the didn't see any flames. 55 pasengers were on board the flight. they were put on busses and taken back to sacramento where they had to get on differnt flights. ( mark ) protestors gathered in san diego county over the weekend, calling on their police department to fire an officer involved in a deadly shooting. this shooting happened back in september 20-16 in el cajon. an el cajon officer fired four shots at alfred olango. a ugandan refugee olango

turned out to be pointing an e-cigarette at officers. police were responding to calls that olango was in emotional distress and was a threat to himself ( james ) two women have died after a car ran over multiple people inside a church parking lot. it happened yesterday in san bernardino county. police say an elderly man reversed his car in the parking lot hitting six women. the car then crashed into the church. the driver and the passenger have non-life threatening injuries. (mark) charleston church killer dylann roof is expected to plead guilty to state murder charges. prosecutors announced he was going to plead guilty last month. if he does...he is expected to get life in prison and not undergo a second trial. earlier this year...he was sentenced to death on federal murder and hate crime charges. roof admitted to killing nine parishoners at a historic black church in charleston south carolina in june 2015. (mark) u-s regulators are accusing google of underpaying

their female workers. government investigators are looking into how the tech giant pays their employees... and this morning they are accusing google of shortchanging women who are doing similar work to men. google says they disagree with the accusations of sex discrimination. they say thy have been trying to improve hiring practices that have historically given most of their jobs to white and asian men. their efforts to balance their workforce better has been mostly unsuccessful so far. ( james ) kylie jenner surprises high school students at rio americano high school in sacramento when she shows up as a student's date. junior albert ochoa asked jenner to the prom after he was rejected by a girl he originally asked out. jenner heard his story and agreed to be his date to the prom. she posted photos of her arriving in her private jet. videos posted to twitter over the weekend show students rushing to take photographs of jenner. the prom was held saturday night

in downtown sacramento. (mark) a lot of parents say all it takes is a car ride to get their babies to fall asleep... and now ford is tapping into that phenomenon. they are creating a prototype of a new kind of crib that simulates a car ride. the "max motor dreams" looks like a fancy bassinette. a speaker under the baby plays gentle engine sounds and the base of the crib slowly rocks from side to side, simulating the sensation of a moving car. and the rim of the crib is lined with l-e-d lights that turn on and off, like passing under streetlights. the car company is holding a raffle for the crib but they say they are considering mass producing it due to popular demand. (james) gas prices continue to rise this morning. the average price of a gallon of regular gas has gone up nine cents over the past two weeks. (mark) and industry experts say that the u-s missile strike on syria has contributed to the rise. they say unless oil prices go down quickly... you should expect gas prices to climb a few more cents. (james) the national average is up 33-cents per gallon from a year ago. and here's a look at bay area prices this morning. in oakland it's $2.99 for a gallon of regular gas. san jose is $3.02. and san francisco is the most expensive in the nation at $3.12. (mark) us airlines are getting

better grades across the board that's according to a report from wichita state university just released this morning. (james) researchers say airlines are getting better at sticking to their schedules, they are losing fewer bags, and customers are complaining less often. (mark) the researchers use information compiled by the u.s. department of transportation to rate the airlines for on- time performance, baggage handling, bumping passengers off oversold flights, and complaints filed with the government. they plan to release their list of the best airlines later this morning. ( james ) thanks will. we will check back through out ( mark / boxes ) happening now. police are searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted two women on the stanford university campus... they happened within 20 minutes of each other. both attacks were reported friday night on escondido road. the first one around 10:40 p-m when police say a man groped a woman from behind and continued walking east. then, around 11 p-m, a second victim say's she was jogging when a man groped her from behind and ran away. there is no clear descrption of the attacker ( james ) the man who police say shot and killed a woman while she sat in a car with her two young sons in richmond will appear in court today. the judge set bail for lawyer mcbride at three-point-one million dollars. he faces murder

charges. the 43-year-old is alleged to have shot his ex -girlfriend, rashanda franklin, after the two had an altercation. police say franklin's two boys under the age of ten were in the car with their mother when mcbride fired the fatal shots. ( mark ) the search continues for a missing san jose state university student. 23-year-old kevin redrico was last seen near the benicia bridge thursday morning. he left his home in vallejo that morning and was last seen getting out of his 20-14 red honda accord in benicia. police have searched by helicopter and boat. volunteers have been searching the area on foot ever since. redrico was wearing black clothing when he left home. ( mark ) one person is dead this morning after a suspected d-u-i crash in san jose. the three-car collison happened around 2:30 yesterday morning on highway 280 at mclaughlin avenue. police say that the driver of a gray lexus was speeding and lost control of the car. the lexus hit a gray honda accord which crashed into a

guard-rail and caught fire. the driver of the honda died. the lexus then hit a silver toyota camry that overturned. that driver escaped injury. police arrested jerry tram, who was driving the lexus. the 21-year-old suffered minor injuries. he was taken to jail on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. ( james ) in the east bay. scary moments after a car slammed into a home in union city. this is a picture alameda county fire posted on their instagram page. it happened in the 4300 block of cambridge way around 8:30 saturday night. firefighters immediately shut off the power and water to the home. no injuries were reported. the cause of the accident remains under investigation (mark) fox news' parent company, 21st century fox, says it will investigate the sexual harassment claims made against host bill o'reily. that's according to an attorney representing a woman who filed the harassment

complaint against o'reily. the new york times reported last weeek that fox news and o'reily paid 13 million dollars in settlements to five women who accused o'reilly of sexual harassment. one around 10:40 p-m when police say a man groped a woman from behind and continued walking east. then, around 11 p-m, a second victim say's she was jogging when a man groped her from behind and ran away. there is no clear descrption of the attacker ( james ) the man who police say shot and killed a woman while she sat in a car with her two young sons in richmond will appear in court today. the judge set bail for lawyer mcbride at three-point-one million dollars. he faces murder charges. the 43-year-old is alleged to have shot his ex -girlfriend, rashanda franklin, after the two had an altercation. police say franklin's two boys under the age of ten were in the car with their mother when mcbride fired the fatal shots. ( mark ) the search continues for a missing san jose state university student. 23-year-old kevin redrico was last seen near the benicia bridge thursday morning. he left his home in vallejo that morning and was last seen getting out of his 20-14 red honda accord in benicia. police have searched by helicopter and boat. volunteers have been searching the area on foot ever since.

( mark ) one person is dead this morning after a suspected d-u-i crash in san jose. the three-car collison happened around 2:30 yesterday morning on highway 280 at mclaughlin avenue. police say that the driver of a gray lexus was speeding and lost control of the car. the lexus hit a gray honda accord which crashed into a guard-rail and caught fire. the driver of the honda died. the lexus then hit a silver toyota camry that overturned. that driver escaped injury. police arrested jerry tram, who was driving the lexus. the 21-year-old suffered minor injuries. he was taken to jail on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. ( james ) in the east bay. scary moments after a car slammed into a home in union city. this is a picture alameda county fire posted on their instagram page. it happened in the 4300 block of cambridge way around 8:30 saturday night.

(mark) fox news' parent company, 21st century fox, says it will investigate the sexual harassment claims made against host bill o'reily. that's according to an attorney representing a woman who filed the harassment complaint against o'reily. the new york times reported last weeek that fox news and o'reily paid 13 million dollars in settlements to five women who accused o'reilly of sexual harassment. ( mark ) protestors gathered in san diego county over the weekend, calling on their police department to fire an officer involved in a deadly shooting. this shooting happened back in september 20-16 in el cajon. an el cajon officer fired four shots at alfred olango. a ugandan refugee olango turned out to be pointing an e-cigarette at officers. police were responding to calls that olango was in emotional distress and was a threat to himself (mark) charleston church killer dylann roof is expected to plead guilty to state murder charges. prosecutors announced he was going to plead guilty last month. if he does...he is expected to get life in prison and not undergo a second trial. earlier this year...he was sentenced to death on federal murder and hate crime charges. roof admitted to killing nine parishoners at a historic black church in charleston south carolina in june 2015.

( mark / boxes ) happening now. police are searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted two women on the stanford university campus... they happened within 20 minutes of each other. both attacks were reported friday night on escondido road. the first one around 10:40 p-m when police say a man groped a woman from behind and continued walking east. then, around 11 p-m, a second victim say's she was jogging when a man groped her from behind and ran away. there is no clear descrption of the attacker (mark) the man who police say shot and killed a woman while she sat in a car with her two young sons in richmond will appear in court today. the judge set bail for lawyer mcbride at three-point-one million dollars. he faces murder charges. the 43-year-old is alleged to have shot his ex -girlfriend, rashanda franklin, after the two had an altercation. police say franklin's two boys under the age of ten were in the car with their mother when mcbride fired the fatal shots. continues for a missing san jose state university student. 23-year-old kevin redrico was last seen near the benicia bridge thursday morning. he left his home in vallejo that morning and was last seen getting out of his 20-14 red honda accord in benicia. police have searched by helicopter and boat. volunteers have been searching the area on foot ever since. redrico was wearing black clothing when he left home. (mark) police have found the suspect who sent ransom messages to the family of a missing yuba city college student. officers determined that the suspect was not involved in the disapearance of alycia yeoman. the 20-year-old went missing in yuba city, north of sacramento more than a week ago. alycia's truck was found near a levee the night she went missing. investigators later found her cell phone and one set of footprints leading away from her truck. yeoman's mother says she received texts with demands from alycia's kidnappers...which turned out to be fake. police are offering a five-thousand
